We understand that a union is attempting to organize employees at your location. I believe that your interests are best served by all of us working together, not through an outsider. This is how we can improve matters for everyone. We do recognize, however, the right of employees to freely choose whether or not to join a union, but we feel it is important for you to know the truth…that unions often make promises they can’t keep!
FCi Federal is committed to paying a fair wage to employees in all of our facilities, whether unionized or not. We have worked successfully with unions in several regions, so as you think about whether to join, you should be aware that some of the claims the union makes in recent flyers are misleading and overstated.
For example, unions don’t mention union dues in the literature they hand out and how much of your pay goes to the union. We recently negotiated union contracts at other FCi locations where the union did not tell employees that the required dues payments took up the entire first year of negotiated increases and will take a large amount out of future negotiated wage increases. In fact, at one location, dues stripped employees of their wage increases resulting in workers actually making less than the SCA Wage Determination.
Also unions don’t mention that they are motivated to organize worksites like yours so they can direct your Health and Welfare dollars to the union’s sponsored health and welfare plans. We negotiated a contract where all employee health and welfare money was paid to the union sponsored health and welfare plan. The union then provided employees their healthcare coverage with a plan that offered far less benefit than FCi health plans at considerably more cost to employees. Does this sound like an organization that you want to represent you?
I ask you to give us an opportunity to show you that the changes we are making at your location will truly make a difference in your livelihood. Let’s not have a union organization campaign distract us from achieving the goals we’ve set for the program, the workforce and the customer. Let’s focus on working together to achieve great things!
